Society of the Lunar Lapines

We are Lunar Rabbits, descendants who have worshiped the moon goddess for over 4,000 years. Our kind was born from the goddess' wish to have a loyal companion. Legend says that she opened a bridge from heaven to earth to allow us to cross into the world of humans, asking only that in return we would bestow them with the gift of wisdom- promoting sacrifice, dutifulness, and harmony. Thusly, our ancient civilization helped humans in conceptualizing the art of "zen."Women of the Lunar Rabbits are said to inherit the beauty, grace, and wisdom of the moon itself- and therefore are held in high regard, often taking leading roles in their society. Our men- blessed with prowess in agility, dexterity, and resolute strength, are said to be dauntlessly devoted to whatever cause they choose in life, but often bear a soft edge to them. People of our kind who harmonize or transcend both genders, whether it be in body, spirit, or mind, are said to receive double the bounties in life. Many of our kind are shy, but surprisingly sensual, and take quiet pleasure in the company of others.Although rabbit people can have skintones of varying tones, many of our kind have white pelages- signifying our purity, spiritual clarity, and connection to the moon. Other traits are not uncommon, however. It is said that black rabbits signify the night sky against which the moon is thrown, it holds a quiet mystery and hidden knowledge. Compared to spotted rabbits, who are said to be inventive and daring, often breaking norms and providing a futuristic outlook. Meanwhile the more modern, earthly brown and grey rabbits are said to represent the best of our peoples traits that we have to offer- diligence and steady trustworthiness.In order to conserve harmonious traditions, we are a strictly peaceful and artistically disciplined race. We harbor an enormous sense of pride; paired with a high value on beauty, we are sometimes known to be a bit vain. You should never touch a rabbits tails or ears without permission, as this is highly degrading and taboo, doing so can damage a rabbits ego- sending them spiraling into a fit of depression. You should also never speak ill of the moon goddess, such as implying that she is a thief, for this will invoke a deep rage in any rabbit who adheres to traditional values- although in coming times there are plenty of rabbits who take a more... delinquent approach to spirituality and tradition.Although we are now a much more modern race, with many of our kind taking interest in fields of technology and science- ancient practices, like calligraphy and silk-weaving, still find ready acceptance in society among consumers of art, of which their are plenty. Traditional wear, such as kimono-style robing, is still popular among the rabbits. Rabbits who live on earth even practice Tsukimi, the autumnal moon-viewing celebration, where they serve traditional foods from such as mochi and mooncakes. Overall, our people's modus operandi is to celebrate, cooperate, and populate.

Foundation of a Faction

The rabbits are an ancient race of lunar lapines who are known for their impressive technological advancements, particularly the leaps and bounds (...pun intended) contributed by them to space travel science- although they have a deep connection to nature & the arts as well. While many rabbits have already migrated to Earth- and recorded history shows that rabbits have made contact with humanity long ago- two heirs, princesses of the Lunar Rabbit kingdom, served the royal court on the moon up until recently. As soon as they were finally able to convince the Lunar Empress to give her blessing, they took to the stars and settled on a small island to the south of the Earth's hemisphere with a small population of specially appointed rabbits to form the Jade Rabbits. This faction was founded with the purpose to unite Moon & Earth, and serve as a liaison between humans and rabbits, connecting them in science, art, and history.Although these two princesses are in line to be Empresses to the Lunar Rabbits- a title which is mostly just a title in today's modern day and age- they are a bit awkward when handling foreign affairs and are still learning the ropes of how other planets handle their politics and in fact many outsiders tend to be put off by the... lax... and, at times utterly uncouth behaviour of the rabbits. The heirs are notably a pair of eccentrics who encourage their subordinates to partake in strange behaviour, including dressing in maid and butler style uniforms. Rumours have it that bribery is involved... Regardless, they do their best to provide to their people. United together with the moon's leading scientists, top creative visionaries, strongest warriors, most exquisite socialites, and most capable explorers- the Jade Rabbits are here to spread their message across the galaxy!

Responsibilities

Jade Rabbits are zen masters who relinquish "power" for a greater understanding of their place in things. Personal responsibility to maintain peace and harmony is the only duty we have. While you are not required to get along with every individual it is your responsibility to behave in a way that is civil. Therefore, you should attempt to challenge your own perspective of things to reach a common ground with your fellow clan members and it's allies. There are no requirements of our members aside from this.

Events & Meet-ups

We are currently still setting up and so there are no events or meetings planned yet, however all events & meetings will always be entirely opt-in. They will never be a requirement except under severe circumstances by those directly involved- of which we hope are few and far in between.Some ideas for events include Lunar Festivals and other ceremonies hosted at the Sakura Maid Café by the Maids & Butlers of our clan, these are to be further expanded upon in the future. We would like to provide an opportunity with each of our roles to host events in which they can provide their services for tips.
